ESTATE PLANNING

It’s the end of a year and the beginning of a new year and it is time to review your estate plan.  In 2006, your Unified Credit for Federal Estate Tax purposes is $2 Million and for the state of Massachusetts, it is $1 Million.  If your will establishes a trust to utilize you full Unified Credit amount, you may want to amend it to a lesser amount if your estate is less than $2 Million.  Otherwise, you could be putting your entire estate in the trust leaving nothing for your spouse as a marital deduction.

Set up a free appointment to discuss your plan to insure it keeps pace with changing tax consequences.
